What is Advent App?

One sentence: Advent App lets anyone create a personal digital Advent calendar — 24 doors filled with photos, videos, voice messages and little surprises — and gift it to someone they love.

One paragraph: Advent calendars are one of the warmest December traditions — but making a personal one by hand takes time, and sending it across the world is impossible. Advent App brings the ritual to the phone: senders fill 24 doors with photos, videos, GIFs, voice messages, vouchers and notes, then share a private link via WhatsApp, SMS or email. From December 1st, the recipient opens one door each day — a small moment of connection, every single day, wherever they are. No accounts, no sign-up, free to send. Advent App is made in Berlin by Pintumo UG, has been on the App Store since 2013, and is fully localized in 17 languages.

The story

Advent App is built in Berlin — the home of the Advent calendar tradition — by the small independent studio Pintumo UG. The idea is simple: the best Advent calendar isn't the one with the most chocolate, it's the one made by someone who knows you. What began as a way to send personal calendars to loved ones far away has grown into an app used across Europe and beyond, localized into 17 languages.

Business model

Creating and sending a calendar is free — recipients watch a short ad before opening each door. Senders who want to make it extra special can gift a completely ad-free calendar with a single one-time purchase per calendar. There are no subscriptions and no selling of personal data; Advent App is GDPR-compliant and built in Germany.
